Elizardo Hernandez joined Judson Independent School District in 2017, following six years of service with the Marion ISD. His career began with the Fort Sam Houston ISD where he taught special education for three years and served as the Middle School Assistant Principal at Robert G. Cole Middle School for six years. Mr. Hernandez served as Dean of Students for one year with the Houston ISD.
Mr. Hernandez grew up in Houston, Texas. After graduating high school from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston's East End Community, he served three years as an active duty soldier medic in the US Army and four years as a reservist in the US Army Reserve. He moved his family to San Antonio in 2000 and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a Minor in Bicultural-Bilingual Studies, both from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Mr. Hernandez was chosen as the Region 13 Principal of the Year in 2017 and the Region 20 Assistant Principal of the Year in 2009.
Mr. Hernandez is the proud parent of two children, Angela Marie and Giovanni D'Angelo. He has two grandchildren, JoeAngel and Sophia, who he says bring out the best in him.
